Fibrosis

Fibrosis is the replacement of the components of a normal structure by fibrous tissue; process by which inflamed tissue becomes scarred; a formation of fibrous tissue as a reaction or as a repair process.

Examples: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common, fatal genetic disease affecting children.
